Hunters Moon October 16, 2016

hunters-moon-textcopia

If you’re prone to tilt your head and howl at the moon, like the great hunters the coyotes, October 16, in Aries, will be the only night this month when the moon will be visible in the sky all night long. Just be mindful of the neighbors when you howl!

All you Moon Lovers Mark your calendars because this is the last Supermoon of the year! It is also known as a sanguine or “blood” moon, the term “Hunters Moon” is used traditionally to refer to a full moon that appears during the month of October. This full Moon is also called the Travel Moon and the Dying Grass Moon.

To the Native Americans full moons were a way to keep track of the seasons and make appropriate preparations for survival. Besides, with falling leaves and the fattening of wild game, also preparing for winter, who could argue that this month’s moon signaled a good time to go hunting. Hunter’s Moon the name for the full moon after the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon nearest the September autumnal equinox. That’s why October’s moon bears the name Hunter’s Moon.

The Hunters Full Moon is also called the Shedding Moon, Blood Moon, or the Falling Leaf Moon. Coming right before Samhain/Halloween, it is a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in the energy around you.

When the Moon is full the Sun and the Moon are in opposite zodiac signs. This is a time that is supercharged with balancing energies, although many tend to be thrown off by the intensity of the moon’s effect on us as she reaches her peak. This is a time when the Solar (masculine) and the Lunar (feminine) energies are in harmony. Now is a wonderful time for us to find a healthy balance of these two energies within. Within all of us are these two energies, whether male or female.

For those who set intentions with the New Moon, this is now a time of forward movement and a time for action, upon your intentions. The Full Moon supports and encourages breakthroughs and releases of that which no longer serves our greatest and highest good.

This Full Moon is to help clear and remove any blockages with you physical and spiritual bodies which may be still in your way, whether on a conscious or subconscious level. This healing supports and encourages the release of emotional blockages and fears that hold you back from realizing your Highest Potential.

New Moon –New Beginnings

A new moon ritual for new beginnings

The new moon occurs on October 13, 2015 marking the beginning of a new cycle.  The new moon is a time of initiation and new beginnings. It is the time to plant a seed of what you want to grow in your life. Making a wish, an intention, a promise, or a vow is a common custom. It is believed that as the moon grows, that your intention or goal will too usually by the time the moon completes its cycle and returns full circle to new again.

For example farmers knew this, so they started to plan their harvests and seeding around the moon cycles. These farmers noticed through time passing that the seeds that took the best were seeded during the new moon. The new moon is also a time of seeding ideas and intentions. Theses seeded ideas will then sprout with the coming full moon just as the seed lie waiting in darkness to break forth into the light to bring fruit, so should you allow the gestation and creation of such idea to bring about physical results.

Set your New Moon Intentions in Motion

  • New Moon Magic: Make a fresh start, begin a project, initiate a new relationship, start a new routine.
  • Create a ritual: Set an intention, write down your wishes, dreams, and desires.
  • Light a white/silver candle; imagine the new moving toward you in joyful, powerful ways.
  • Spend a few moments breathing in the energy of this new reality each day, making it more and more tangible.
  • Work this for one moon cycle and re-access and energize on the next new moon if needed.

July Full Buck Moon July 02, 2015

Buck Moon copiaThe summer skies will light up July 2, 2015 at 02:19 UTC. The full moon in July represents what many natives call “Thunder Moon”, since July is a time when rains and downpours appear allowing Mother Nature to give her wrath to people who mistreat her. At the same time, being so merciful, she would provide support and fostering to drought and feeding her playground through surges of water.

To the Native Americans, Moons represented the skies and that is why some call it where Gods lives. The full moon in July represents what many natives call “Thunder Moon”, since July is a time when rains and downpours appear allowing Mother Nature to give her wrath to people who mistreat her. At the same time, being so merciful, she would provide support and fostering to drought and feeding her playground through surges of water.

Since July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur, the full moon of this moon is called the full Buck Moon. Another name for this month’s Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

This Full Moon is about balancing our commitment to our career and families. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.

The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between roots and direction. With the Moon full symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems.

Take time to pray and visualize what you want during this full moon.

This is a good time to cleanse and charge your crystals under the Sun during the day and the Moon by night.

JULY: Hay Moon (July) Also known as: Wort Moon, Moon of Claiming, Moon of Blood (because of mosquitoes), Blessing Moon, Maedmonat (Meadow Month), Hewimanoth (Hay Month), Fallow Moon, Buck Moon, Thunder Moon

Nature Spirits: hobgoblins (small, grotesque but friendly brownie-type creatures), faeries of harvested crops

Herbs: honeysuckle, agrimony, lemon balm, hyssop

Colors: silver, blue-gray

Flowers: lotus, water lily, jasmine

Scents: orris, frankincense

Stones: pearl, moonstone, white agate

Trees: oak, acacia, ash

Animals: crab, turtle, dolphin, whale

Birds: starling, ibis, swallow

Power Flow: relaxed energy; preparing; succeeding. Dream-work, divination, and meditation on goals and plans, especially spiritual ones.

Full Moon Ritual

All our ancestors used spiritual baths or sweat lodges during the full moon.  Water is a medium that can transfer energy.  I find that using 1/2lb. of Epsom salts in the water helps to cleanse the spiritual body.  During a spiritual bath you need to slow down, take a deep breath, feel the water around you, let it wash and cleanse every part of you.  Let it carry the hurts, aches, negativity, grief, rejection etc…  Feel its strength and purity.  Feel the water surround you, comfort you.  Let it rebirth you.

It is beneficial to have an in depth spiritual reading every moon cycle. Since every moon cycle represents a change, it not only affects our external forces but our internal forces as well. If you would like to get a reading with me CLICK HERE!

Actions to Take To Heal Your Grief!

healing grief
It is often difficult to accept the loss of a loved one. Loss often causes grief. Here are some suggestions to help you overcome your grief.

Write a letter to a loved one, or any one you loved who has passed over. Let all of your emotions flow. You can do this as often as you like.

Light a candle for them for 7 consecutive days. Look back at some of the “deaths” in your life, how have they helped you to become the person you are today? Join a discussion or support group for death and dying.

Hold a releasing ceremony, symbolically burying or burning anything you no longer want or need in your own life.

Make up your own ritual for this and follow your own inner knowing or call upon your ancestors, the angels, and The Creator to help show you the way.
