Psychic Scams Versus Genuine Psychics!

psychic scams
Psychics have been around since the beginning of mankind being called prophets, soothsayers, fortune teller, and many other terms. A genuine psychic can see the potential for the future. Unfortunately over the last twenty years there has been an incredible boom of people representing themselves as psychics because of the money to be made by telling people what they want to hear or else convincing them that without spiritual help they are going to have great misfortune. This has caused psychics to be viewed as not honorable people. So what I want to do is point out psychic scams and how to avoid them, so that you can talk to a genuine psychic.

Free Psychic Readings!

One of the biggest ways to get caught into a scam is advertisements that state, “Free Psychic Readings.” Everyone is looking for a bargain, but when it comes to psychics you should really look for Quality. These advertisements get you to call quickly and once you are on the line you are given so many free minutes and when your time is up you will be tempted to continue with the psychic reading when the “reader” uses one or two intriguing hints like: ” I have some really exciting news for you that just came through to me, but unfortunately your free time is up. You would like to continue with the reading, wouldn’t you?” You are then asked for payment and the cost is usually extremely high for every minute that you are on the line thereafter.

It is very likely the “reader” is working off a carefully crafted script in order to ensnare you. How I know this is because I worked for one of the top online psychic companies, when I first started out professionally, and the first thing I was given was a detailed script of what I was to say to keep the reader on the line. I never did follow the script and I was very successful becoming their top psychic. Whatever reason you give not to pay and continue you will be met with a response from the “script” which you will find very difficult to refuse. You cannot say I didn’t warn you!

Do you honestly believe a Clairvoyant/Psychic reader will sit around all day working for nothing! Would you? I do not think so. A psychic has to pay bills just like anyone else and that is the reason that they charge for their services. Only if a psychic is blessed with great wealth can they do readings for free.
Most of these large psychic companies offer free readings because they do not have genuine quality psychics working for them, because they could not afford to pay them and they use people that follow a carefully outlined script and are good talkers.

You Have A Curse On You!

If any psychic tells you that you have a curse on you and they can remove it – hang up the telephone immediately. This person is going to try to fool you into paying large amounts of money to have the curse removed. They will also claim that they can bring back a loved one to you by their special work. No one can make someone love you because each one of us has free will.

Some “psychics” use this type of technique so that the clients become dependant on them in their time of vulnerability. I have had countless people tell me stories of spending thousands of dollars on psychics, to the point of financial ruin. Also, as a psychic in practice for more than 25 years now, and working with others of equal experience, I can assure you, that only under extremely rare circumstances would any psychic work, cost more than two hundred dollars, IF that. These readers have no basis for their suggestions to you, regarding “curses”.

The Negativity Scam

Another scam is telling you that you need to have all “Negativity Removed” from your life. That everything in your life will improve once all negative energy is removed from your presence. Often the negativity is coming from your money and if you give them your money they will burn it or destroy it in some sacred way that eliminates the negativity. Again do not fall for this. There are ways you can remove any negativity from your life and you can do it yourself. I send out newsletters where I teach people how to improve their life and spiritually develop their own protection.

These types of so called psychics are known as gypsies in the field because they move from victim to victim. I cannot begin to tell you how many people have called me telling me about spending thousands of dollars to psychics who claimed they could make someone love them, remove a curse, or protect them from someone who has been abusing them. Sad to say, clients have quoted prices ranging from $300 to $10,000 for removing curses. They are using fear and carefully crafted words to make you afraid that if you do not do what they say your life could be ruined.

How to Spot an Ethical Genuine Psychic

A genuine ethical psychic has no hidden costs, and no surprises. Most genuine psychics give to charities or give some time for free to different organizations. Many also run prayer or meditations groups, or have students in spiritual study with them. A professional psychic relies on readings for their income and they want to make sure that their clients are happy.

A genuine psychic does not rely upon tools such as cards, crystal balls, pendulums, runes or any other outside tool. A truly gifted psychic will receive their answers from their own or their clients spirit guides, higher self and/or angels. Reputable psychics are concerned with the best possible way to serve their clients. It means a great deal to me that I am not just doing a job: I am serving humanity in a meaningful and useful way.

Reputable psychics know that their gift comes from the Divine Spirit, and that they are not in charge of it. A reputable psychic’s desire is to guide clients to understanding and truth, which will help them learn to transform the negatives in their own lives. A reputable psychic will never exploit you. A genuine psychic’s gift is natural; they do not encourage clients to think of them as god-like or superior. A reputable psychic focuses only on Truths, not unfounded Fear. A reputable psychic is interested in spiritual education for your own knowledge and growth.

Remember there are true gifted psychics who only want the best for you and will only charge a normal rate for their services and never ask for bonuses or extra money for their work.

So the next time you see the words, “Free Psychic Reading,” think carefully about your wallet and credit cards before you follow through on the advertisement.

Are Psychic Powers Real?

Real is relative to what we perceive as real. As the saying goes “Perception is reality.” So what our minds perceive to be fact will be considered fact. The answer to the question on whether psychics are real or not varies depending on who you speak with. While millions of people consult with and believe in psychics, there are millions that do not. How can millions of people be wrong? How can millions of people be right? It is a matter of personal belief. If these abilities are not real, there are certainly many institutes studying psychics and testing their gifts. A psychic has the burden of proof to prove to someone that what he or she is saying is accurate.

Yet, if psychic powers are not real, why is there such an immense amount of research, energy, and resources that go into validating or disproving these abilities? Every year at various facilities, an extensive amount of research takes place. New psychics are constantly emerging and skeptics are quick to shoot down their claims. Critics feel that most self-proclaimed psychics are charlatans preying on the innocent for financial gain. Believers feel that psychics are given their gift to help people by providing invaluable insight and guidance. These believers of psychic abilities speak from personal experience or evidence that they have come across. It is hard to deny that there are various documented cases of successful psychics.

The Case For Psychic Abilities

People that are believers typically base their beliefs on personal experience, personal accounts from others in their circle, or other “credible” evidence that is provided through television, newspapers, and other media outlets. It is fair to say that there are numerous documented cases and accounts in which clairvoyance seems to have played a role. A prime example is Edgar Cayce; there is evidence from the virtually thousands of readings that he did through the years. On seven rare occasions, he allegedly prophesied things that would not happen until many years later, and in many other cases, people believed what he was telling them. The issue with some of these documented stories is that scientists cannot validate psychic powers by the “stories” and “believed accounts” of such acts.

Many people listen when the government says something. There is some sort of validity and truth when it comes from the government. This is true of the time when the CIA and U.S. Government launched a remote viewing project called Star Gate. Remote viewing is considered an ability of a person to gather information on a remote target that is hidden from the physical perception of the viewer and separated from the viewer at some distance. Apparently, the U.S. began this investigative program in response to Russia running similar testing on psychic phenomena. Over the course of a twenty year period, nearly $20 million was invested in Star Gate and its activities. The goal was to use these remote viewers to gain the upper hand in military combat and other missions. There were approximately forty who participated in the program over the years and nearly twenty-three of them were remote viewers. In the 1980s when this program was a high point, there were about seven full-time remote viewers. It is reported that three psychics worked in Fort Meade from 1990 – 1995.

The program worked on hundreds of intelligence collection projects that included thousands of remote viewing sessions. Highly noted successes were referred to as “eight martini” results. This was because the remote viewing data was so startling that all involved had to go out and drink eight martinis just to make sense of it all. There were various successes, but perhaps the most successful was Joe McMoneagle, who left Star Gate with a merit award for providing information on one hundred and fifty targets.

In 1978, he was recruited into the secret psychic spy unit of the government program. The program was basically designed to develop an intelligence operation group that used remote viewing. McMoneagle worked with the unit until he retired in 1984. After retirement, he was hired by Cognitive Sciences Laboratory, which was the company responsible for the research and development side of the Star Gate project. He worked in the capacities of both a remote viewer and research assistant. He has also written two books about remote viewing, Mind Trek (1993) and The Ultimate Time Machine (1998).

Today, more popular psychic mediums such as John Edward and Sylvia Browne continue to astound their clients with amazing accuracy and messages from beyond. John Edward underwent a battery of tests with Dr. Gary Schwartz and was deemed a truthful and authentic psychic medium. However, John Edward, as well as Dr. Schwartz, still receive criticism on this matter. In their opinions, what more needs to be tested? What more needs to be done before the skeptics will give them one ounce of the benefit of the doubt? For believers, it is a faith- based belief.

On the lighter side of things, there are also reports of psychic pets. That’s right: cats,
dogs, birds, and other furry friends! A biologist named Rupert Sheldrake has studied one bird in particular: a parrot named N’kisi. Apparently, this playful parrot has psychic abilities. You can read more about this paranormal parrot at

Winner of the March, 2009 e-mail contest

Dear Alicia:

Here are the easiest ways that you can increase your psychic power. Be patient and trust that it will come.

1.     Whenever the telephone rings, close your eyes and visualize the person who is calling.  Then pick up the phone and discover if you’re right.  Your accuracy will improve dramatically as you practice this exercise, and this exercise may help you develop your clairvoyant abilities in addition to intuition and precognition.

2.     When you stand in line at the bank, tell yourself which teller will serve you.  This exercise is similar to the first, but you can see your “target.”  This exercise helps you develop your intuition and your ability to psychically connect with others who are in close proximity.

3.     When you watch a sporting event, tell yourself the outcome before the event begins.  As you develop skill with this exercise, expand to predicting more statistics such as scores or top 5 placements in racing or judged events.  This exercise helps you develop your intuition, precognition, and clairvoyance.  Do not misuse this skill for personal gain, such as gambling, or you will likely lose your skill entirely.

4.     Have a friend roll a dice.  Begin by calling “even” or “odd” before the dice is thrown your accuracy will increase with practice.  Expand to call the number the dice will land on.  This exercise helps you develop your intuition, precognition and clairvoyance (specifically your ability to see numbers).

5.     Work with a friend and a standard deck of playing cards.  Begin by predicting black or red, and then have your friend turn over the top card of the deck.  Your accuracy will improve with practice.  When your accuracy is 80% or greater, expand to predict the suit, and later, the number or face of the card as well.  This exercise boosts your intuition, precognition, and clairvoyance (specifically colours and shapes).

6.     When you’re riding an elevator and another passenger joins you, tell yourself which button they’ll press.  This exercises helps you develop your intuition, precognition, clairvoyance (number recognition), telepathy, and your ability to connect with others psychically.

7.     In the morning, write down the names of people you will have important interactions or communications with that day.  Don’t rely on logic.  Clear your mind and allow faces or names to come to you naturally.  Trust it and write it down.  Using this exercise regularly will significantly improve your accuracy.

8.     When in line at the movies, tell yourself which movie the person or group ahead of you will request (if you overhear them say it, try again another time!).  This exercise helps you improve your intuition concerning the intentions, preferences and actions of others, and it can lead to developing telepathy and empathy.

9.     When you have a meeting or appointment, tell yourself the colour of clothing the other person will be wearing before you meet.  (This does not work for all people or situations.  For example, you can reasonably assume a doctor will be wearing white, or you may know someone always wears a particular colour.)  This exercise improves your clairvoyant abilities and could help you develop remote viewing skills as well.

10. Ask three friends a question (such as “what did you eat for breakfast?” or “where do you want to go on your next vacation?”)  Before you ask your questions, your friends must decide amongst themselves which one will answer falsely, and you must write down which friend will answer falsely.  Then you ask your question and listen to each friend reply.  Show them the name you wrote down before you asked the question.  This exercise helps you develop intuition, precognition and can lead to developing telepathy.  This skill is especially valuable in life the ability to recognize deception and even predict it can make your life, and the lives of many others, much smoother.

Once you have started doing the above exercises you will start seeing changes in your psychic awareness.

Many blessings,
Cherokee Billie
