Silent are the Spirits. Honoring Native American Week.

Silent are the spirits.
The people that shed blood for their land.
Tears now stain the four winds for
their mountains that no longer stand.
For the buffalo and the arrow made from a hunters hand.
lonely fly’s the eagle. The broken spirit bear.
Gone are the warriors. The drums of a distant land.
The dreams of a people.
The realm of life man could not understand.

Man’s law changes with his understanding of man.
His greed is the evil love of power.
A world burning in the fire of desire incensed by Hate
Stupidity and Ignorance. Only the laws of the spirit remain always the same.

This distant warrior was a person whose Spirit is one with the Creator. His heart belonging to a People whose life was a sacred gift given by the ancestors. Ones spirit cannot be destroyed for the spirit is eternal as the stars, just beyond the darkest hours of life.

It is said that the vision of life is not in death but that of the Eagle
humbled with clarity and purpose to carry the spirit to the highest levels of self understanding and spirituality. Ones path is a tapestry of knowledge, awareness and enlightenment touched by empty moments reflected in the storms of existence. The earth and self are of one mind that binds the Spirit to the real and eternal tempest of life.

Wise Old Native American Chief

A few years ago someone browsing through the 40th Anniversary Issue of Reader’s Digest (dated Feb. 1962) came across this reprint from the Washington News and found it quite interesting in light of our current debates.

The quote reads: Vice President Lyndon Johnson received the following mess age from a Native American Chief on a reservation: “Be careful with your immigration laws. We were careless with ours. ”

Native American Observation recently an old Native American Indian Chief sat in his hut on the reservation, smoking a Ceremonial pipe and eyeing two U. S. Government officials sent by the President to interview him. “Chief Two Eagles” asked one official, “You have observed the white man for 90 years. You’ve seen his wars and his technological advances you have seen his progress, and the damage he’s done.” The Chief nodded in agreement. The official continued, “Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?” *

The Chief stared at the government officials for over a minute and then calmly replied, “When white man found the land, Indians were running it. No taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, women did all work, medicine man free, Indian man spent all day hunting and fishing, all night having sex.” Then the chief leaned back and smiled. “Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that*

Stop the Slaughter of Buffalo

The State of Montana is planning to issue hunting permits to gun down our buffalo as they do what they have been doing for centuries—make their way on their annual migration from Yellowstone National Park. Go to this site and read about it and if you feel so inclined, please click on their letter to President Obama asking him to stop the killing and send it out to everyone you know. Only we can protect the innocent buffalo so they still walk the open plains for our grandchildren and their grandchildren to see. Please pass this site on to others so we can help save the buffalo from being slaughtered.
