Elvis Presley 1935-1977
I cannot help but think about Elvis Presley on the anniversary of his death August 16. Gone but never forgotten and he always will be the King of Rock And Roll! John Lennon once said, “Before Elvis there was nothing.” He of course was referring to Elvis’s music and style.
Elvis Presley certainly shook up the world forever. I remember being five years old and seeing him the first time he was on the Ed Sullivan show. I stood in the middle of the living room dancing much to the delight of my family. My mother loved him from the moment she saw him because he came from a poor southern upbringing just like her. You can say from that moment on I was a rock and roll fan.
Every Christmas my family played his Christmas album repeatedly. To this day I play Elvis Christmas album, as it takes me back to many fond childhood memories.
In 1969 when Elvis made his big comeback in Las Vegas my best friend and I saw him perform the first week at the International Hotel. He came out in a plain black karate suit. He didn’t have elaborate jewelry or glitter. He didn’t need it because he was so dynamic you could not take your eyes off of him.
Elvis Presley In Concert 1969
He was really on top of his performance in 1969. I continued to see him perform in Las Vegas over the years and his voice was always outstanding, but there was a change in him and I did not feel him connecting to the audience. Little did I know of his troubles.
In 1969 one of my best friends was in the marines and on the weekends he would bring his buddies to my apartment and they would play music and different games. I will never forget this one young man who kept playing my album “Elvis 68” over and over again one weekend. The song he would play the most was, “If I Could Dream.” It is a powerful song that Elvis felt was his message to the world about how it could change if it wanted to. This young man went to Vietnam and never made it back. To this day when I hear that song I still remember that young man.
I felt a great loss when Elvis passed in 1977. He was so young and so much ahead of him. He lives on through his music and movies. He definitely made a major impact that lasts even now. Not Bad For A Poor Southern Boy.
All I can say in summing up this little memoir is that I am glad that I lived to experience so many great musicians in my lifetime. There’s no question that Elvis Presley is the King of Rock And Roll. You will never be forgotten Elvis.
I am enclosing my favorite song “If I Can Dream” by Elvis Presley. Please share your memories and thoughts about Elvis.
According to the dictionary a necessity is:
1. Something necessary or indispensable: food, shelter, and other necessities of life.
2. The fact of being necessary or indispensable; indispensability: the necessity of adequate housing.
People have been lined up for days outside of large corporate businesses to purchase things that they think they need, must have or give! There are millions throughout America and the world who would be happy just to have the bare necessities of life such as mentioned above.
Most people are manipulated and controlled by the media to think that they need things that they really could live without.
If you’re going to shop on black Friday please go to a small business in your local area and support them. Small businesses are going under very quickly because of the large corporations.
Think if you were living in a third world country you’d be grateful for just a decent meal and not concerned about purchasing a gift for someone that you really don’t care about because they bought you something. Choose to not be controlled by the world.
Why not make simple gifts at home and involve your whole family?
Donate your time at a homeless shelter. Volunteer to help out in hospitals. People are very lonely during the holidays and you could do a lot to help others.
Why not change your lifestyle starting today. This week is about thanksgiving and that’s what every day should be about-giving thanks. You are more fortunate than you think.
In this world we are living through a time of both great darkness and light. We have war, and corporate control, alongside a great spiritual emergence. It is time to choose which collective time line you want to take. Trust your heart rather than what you see on the news or told by authority.

The wonderful thing about Consciousness it is cumulative and ever expanding though always infinite and eternal. The voice of Consciousness is without ego, judgment, prejudice; it is all expressive, assistive and loving. Do not deny the inner voice within one’s self that has access to that infinite archive of information. Consciousness is not only a receptacle of information; it is an active and dynamic force in the utilization of that information for one’s benefit. Go within and listen to the still Gentle voice of consciousness. Thought alone does not create our reality – Consciousness does
Quantum physics has scientifically proven what the yogis, Buddhas, and Mystics have always taught, namely that the reality we perceive as being ‘out there’ in a fixed state is in fact an illusion. Instead what we are actually dealing with is a field of infinite possibilities which is in a constant state of flux. The reality we perceive is what our brain has come to assume is there.
This is also known as Johnny Depp Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This infection started for me around 1993 and has progressed over the years.
How do you know if you have this condition? If you live, breath and order your life around Johnny Depp then you may have the disease. If your house is full of pictures, books, and calendars with pictures of Johnny Depp you know that you are affected. Your DVD collection will have been swept of everything but the rather small collection of Depp movies and documentaries, which you will wistfully stare at wishing he was more prolific. Your computer hard drives will be bursting at the seams with JPEGs.
He is quite a remarkable actor, musician, and seems like nice man who has learned a lot of spiritual truth. His role choices are often quirky and he brings to each one uniqueness and strength quite unmatched by the majority of movie ’stars’.
I suppose many women might be immune to the infection, but there is no way of telling. The best advice I can give is not to chance it. If anyone suggests going to see or renting a Depp film then the best approach is to nonchalantly decline, if you do not want this disease. Speaking personally I can guarantee if you watch another actor, such as Tom Cruise, you might find yourself craving a healthy Dose of Johnny Depp.
A Dose of Depp a day keeps the doctor away!
