Remembering Princess Diana 19 Years Later

July 01, 1961 to August 31, 1997

July 01, 1961 to August 31, 1997

Wow, time goes so quickly and it just seems like yesterday I heard about the death of Princess Diana. It’s hard to believe it is almost twenty years since she passed.  Of course it was a big shock at the time because of her enormous popularity worldwide. Any magazine that put her on the cover, when she was alive, always sold more than normal. She was an icon during her life and after. Her legacy has continued and she is still loved deeply by many

Princess Diana Princess Diana will long be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, beauty, and humanitarianism. Let’s celebrate her life and what she gave to so many.

Here is an amazing and inspiring quote from a beautiful woman and an inspiration to so

many…..”Carry out random acts of kindness with no expectation of reward; safe in the knowledge that one day, someone might do the same for you.” – Princess Diana

This is so true. Whenever you do kindnesses expect nothing in return and that is how the blessings come in to your life.

In 2007, marking the tenth anniversary of her death, her sons, Princes William and Harry, honored their beloved mother with a special concert to be held on what would have been her 46th birthday. The proceeds of the event went to charities supported by Diana and her sons.

Continuing her charitable efforts is the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Established after her death, the fund provides grants to numerous organizations and supports initiatives to provide care to the sick in Africa, help refugees, and stop the use of land mines.

So here are a few facts on Princess Diana’s effect on the world.

  • Diana shook up the British monarchy and speeded its modernization.
  • She helped to tear down prejudices about AIDS.
  • She raised awareness of eating disorders.
  • She promoted opposition to land mines.

These are pretty hefty achievements for a woman of little education who mocked herself for being “thick as a plank.” Add to these a more dubious accomplishment — her skillful manipulation of media images — and it’s clear why, so many years after her death, Diana remains an inescapable presence in British life: mostly, but not always, benign; a restless and seductive ghost. It’s time to peer into the many corners she still haunts.

In her charitable work, Diana set a standard that’s hard to equal. She ignored the prevailing prejudices and fears about AIDS to clasp the hands of sufferers, and embraced leprosy patients in Indonesia. Arbiter remembers a visit to a home for the blind where Diana noticed that an old resident was crying: “She asked what was the matter” and he said, ‘I can’t see you.’ So she took his hand and put it on her face.

We can be thankful that her spirit graced this planet. Her beautiful spirit will always live on. She will always be the Queen of Hearts!

Many blessings,

Remembering Michael Jackson on his 58th birthday!

August 29, 1958-June 25, 2009

August 29, 1958-June 25, 2009

True legends never die and Michael Jackson will always be remembered as one of the greatest entertainers ever. I wanted to pause and remember Michael Jackson on the anniversary of his birth.

Michael’s style was unique and totally original. From the time he became famous as a child it was evident that there was something different about this young boy. As he grew and became an adult he proved what a remarkable artist he was with his dynamic album “Thriller.” His dancing was magical and there was no way you could not take your eyes off of him when he performed. He knew how to captivate an audience.

His charitable work was a constant love of his. When he was alive he gave to more charities then any other entertainer at that time. He had great empathy for those that were suffering in this world. He understood suffering as he did not always have an easy life growing up and being famous. They were both difficult and filled with hardships. People only saw the glitz and the glamour and not what went on behind the scenes.

No matter what he was going through Michael always did his best to show appreciation and love for his fans. He understood that they were the reason he was successful.

His passing at the age of 50 was a shock for so many, but I feel that the pressures he went through took a hard toll on his life. What he did was leave a great legacy of work in his music, dancing, poetry, writing, and humanitarian work.

I was privileged to be able to speak to his spirit after his passing and I learned a great deal about Michael Jackson that I never knew. I had not been a fan of his although I always knew he was a great entertainer. I prefer hard rock and roll and his type of music just did not appeal to me.

Channeling his spirit changed my life in more ways than one. I never would have thought of contacting his spirit, but I was asked by a radio station if I could contact him a few days after his passing. I was able to do it on radio and from there I continued channeling him until he had delivered the messages that he wanted his fans to hear and then it was time for him to move forward on his spiritual journey.

His Legacy

In the early 1980s, Michael became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of “Beat It”, “Billie Jean”, and “Thriller”, were credited with breaking down racial barriers. With videos such as “Black or White” and “Scream”, he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s, as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive sound and style has influenced numerous hip hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop, and rock artists.

Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. His other albums, including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995), also rank among the world’s best-selling. Jackson is one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He was also inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame as the first and only dancer from pop and rock music. Some of his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records; 13 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Legend Award and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award; 26 American Music Awards, more than any other artist, including the “Artist of the Century” and “Artist of the 1980s”; 13 number-one singles in the United States in his solo career, more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era; and the estimated sale of over 400 million records worldwide. Jackson has won hundreds of awards, making him the most-awarded recording artist in the history of popular music. In what would have been Jackson’s 52nd birthday on August 29, 2010, he became the most downloaded artist of all time in Nokia Music Store. Jackson became the first artist in history to have a top ten single in the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades when “Love Never Felt So Good” reached number nine on May 21, 2014. Jackson traveled the world attending events honoring his humanitarianism and in 2000, the Guinness Book of Records recognized him for supporting 39 charities, more than any other artist or entertainer

All I can say is that coming from a place of not caring about Michael Jackson I have learned a lot about him and I truly admire him. I know that he is at peace and happy now.

Michael Jackson will never be forgotten!

August is Romance Awareness Month

August is National Romance Awareness Month

August is Romance Awareness Month, which, as far as I can tell, has no specific origin

Hand-holding is awkward, love letters don’t have spell check and flowers shrivel up and die — so why be romantic

Well, according to Curtin University lecturer and sexologist Amanda Lambros, romance is worthwhile because “it makes you feel good”.

“When you’re fully in romance mode, you have all these hormones flooding through your body like dopamine and oxytosin. They swarm like crazy and it makes us feel all giddy, smitten — it feels good.

In today’s world, more and more people are looking for that special someone yet, somehow there seems to be more breakups than long lasting relationships.  Happily Ever After is a rare thing.  The world is not what it used to be and we are definitely living in much harder times. The economy and the hardships that people have endured because of it have changed people and unfortunately, not for the better.

There are many different factors that can contribute to the problems that occur in most relationships.   Some examples are money, technology, (E-Mail, Text Message, Facebook) falloff which are real relationship killers, lack of communication, etc.

So How Can You Get The Spark Going In Your Relationship?

First and foremost is to remember why you came together and fell in love in the first place. Things may have changed over time, but in the beginning of the relationship there was excitement and romance. And this is what needs to be brought back to your relationship to get the sparks going again.

It is important to set aside at least one night a week for date night. A date night should be treated just like you would if you were going out on a date with someone for the first time. You would not be talking about your problems you would be focused on the other person.

If you have small children these things can be done after they have gone to bed and are fast asleep. If your children are older you can arrange a sleepover for them or even a babysitter so that you have time to focus on your mate. If you have no children or your children are grown, you do not have to worry about it.

Here are some suggestions to put the romance back into your life.

  1. Write out an invitation for date night and send it to your mate.
  2. For the man be sure and bring your date flowers.
  3. Have a barbecue outside for just the two of you.
  4. Watch the first movie you ever saw – once again. Make popcorn and have a glass of wine as you watch this.
  5. Cook dinner together. Make a special desert such as cookies and eat them fresh from the oven.
  6. Place lit candles throughout the living room or light a fire in the fireplace.
  7. Have a theme night. Dress up as your favorite characters from movie, music, or literature. Plan this in advance to have food appropriate to your theme and have a movie to watch based on your theme.
  8. Order take out food and feed one another.
  9. Give each other a massage, even if it’s only the neck and shoulders. You will be surprised at how a massage can stimulate both of you.
  10. Play board games or cards. The loser has to do something for the other person.
  11. Put on music and dance together. There’s nothing more romantic than a slow dance.
  12. Put on your sexiest lingerie under your clothes. Play strip poker.
  13. Go out and play miniature golf.
  14. Read together by candle light or firelight.
  15. Have breakfast in bed for dinner and then snuggle under the covers.
  16. Make out during the movie, just like you would on a date.

These are just a few suggestions to help you put back the fire in your relationship. The two of you came together for reason and with a bit of effort you can have the same feelings reignited once more.

When you and your mate are together do your best to put the worries of the world aside and focus on each other. This may take time to get into the swing of it, but once you start having date night regularly it will become something that you both are looking forward to.

Strive to find and keep romance going in your life.

It’s National Senior Citizens Day

national-senior-citizens-day

Today, August 21, 2016, we celebrate the people who are part of the fastest growing demographic in the world. According to the traditional definition, a senior citizen is anyone older than 60 years of age, but this seems relatively young in today’s society! When it comes to new technologies, adults above the age of 55 represent 65% of all early adopters. This demographic is also the most politically engaged segment of the population. Almost 80% of all senior citizens vote in a presidential election, while the overall voter turnout is usually around just 50%. President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first National Senior Citizens Day in 1988. In his explanation he wrote that, “Older citizens are reinforcing their historical roles as leaders and as links with our patrimony and sense of purpose as individuals and as a Nation.” Now there’s something worth celebrating! In honor of National Senior Citizens Day, spend time with your favorite relatives or make a commitment to volunteer at a retirement home sometime in the next year. If you are a senior citizen yourself, check for special promotions and giveaways at your favorite restaurants and shops!
