As we take time to reflect on the 14th Anniversary of a day none of us will ever forget, let us come together to grieve, to remember, to express our gratitude to those who demonstrated what it is to be a hero, and to pledge ourselves to live in honor of their bravery.
There’s no way you can forget when you heard about the attack on the World Trade Center September 11, 2001. It definitely was a moment that is frozen into our brains. So much has changed in the past thirteen years and many of those changes are based upon this moment.
Individuals were changed. The world was changed. And the country was changed. Those that passed that day will never be forgotten and they will never forget us as well!
I lived very close to Los Angeles International Airport and what struck me as most eerie that day was the silence at the airport when all planes were grounded. The sound of silence was deafening! That was as close as I came to the attacks.
Remember all the innocent people that lost their lives that day. We know that their souls are at rest.
We honor all of the emergency responders who sacrificed their lives to help others. They died a noble death.
“Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy.” F. Scott Fitzgerald
Here is a remembrance that was sent to me from a friend in Scotland.
“Hi Billie, I don’t think any of us will forget how the world changed that day I was at work when we heard it on the radio. I had never heard of the World Trade Centre till that day what unfolded was unbelievable. I will never forget walking home and what struck me most was the eerie hush that had descended everywhere, everyone was in disbelief .We just watched the news over and over and thought all those poor people. I hear more people talking about peace and that no one wants to go to war. I would like to think like John Lennon some day that might be possible. Thinking of all those brave poor souls. Love Linda”
I know that many of you have stories you can share about what you experienced that day and please feel free to do so.
Let us take a moment to silently reflect in the spirit of prayer!
Love and prayers,
