Love and Time

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
“Richness, can you take me with you?”
Richness answered, “No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.”

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. “Vanity, please help me!”
“I can’t help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat,” Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, “Sadness, let me go with you.”
“Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!”

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, “Come, Love, I will take you.” It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,
Love asked Knowledge, another elder, “Who Helped me?”
“It was Time,” Knowledge answered.
“Time?” asked Love. “But why did Time help me?”

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, “Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is.”

    What a nice story!
According to this story, Time and Love walk together, and we feel that this is true. But why? Perhaps, because Love (besides religious ideas, philosophical, moral, etc …) is a concrete and specific energy that can connect and associate particle physics of the universe, and this makes the material… that is to say the space.
Are not they complementary, because they create together what we call the space-time? Maybe or maybe not 🙂

    Thank you, Cherokee

    • dear Sylvia:
you pose an interesting question. I Believe that they are complementary like you State. I think that love walks alongside many things. Love is the creator of all. That’s just my feeling about it. Thank you for this interesting post.
      Many blessings,

    Dear Cherokee Billie,

I love those metaphors! They have such hidden truths and teach me a lot!

This particular one has got me thinking about two very meaningful latin phrases for me:

“Tempus Fugit” and “Carpe Diem” .

Being aware of death makes our lives more delicate. It forces us to pay attention to the “moment”, the only thing we really own. And when we have not much time, Love is important. Because it transforms moments into forever.

There is a book called “The voyage to Ixtlan”, where the antropologist Carlos Castañeda talks to a iaqui wizard, called D. Juan and he teaches Carlos the philosophy of witchcraft. If this story really happened or if it is pure fiction, makes no difference at all… Fiction is more powerful than reality.
Carlos, in this story, was afraid of death. Don Juan taught him that death was a friend: “it makes our lives pure”.
The perplex antropologist then asks the the wizard:”D. Juan, which path should I follow, then?”
The wizard answers:” It doesn’t matter the path… All paths lead us to the same place. Choose then, the path of Love”.

Just reflections, still learning about time and about Love!
    Best wishes,
    Karina de Cillo

    • Dear Karina:
Again you offer great words of wisdom. What you said here really is important “Being aware of death makes our lives more delicate. It forces us to pay attention to the “moment”, the only thing we really own. And when we have not much time, Love is important. Because it transforms moments into forever.” Love has been used in so many ways yet, and has the power to change anyone’s life.
I like that you have read the teachings of Don Juan. He was a Native American shaman. These are great books and I thank you so much for sharing what you are learning from them. It is absolutely true that there is no need to fear death. Death when it comes is usually a welcome relief, as we let go of this life and transcend into the next. It is true all spiritual paths lead to love. Thanks for sharing so much in this New Year.
      Many blessings, Cherokee Billie

  4. Thanks Cherokee for this teaching.
Beautiful story, I think the time could only appreciate the love because people eventually acquire wisdom and life experience has enabled them to understand the most important thing is love.
We are called to love, just so we can feel truly alive. Love is the most important, God is Love. And blessed are those who can live love and experiencing the love in their hearts, because they have discovered the key to happiness.

I shared one of the most beautiful verses of the Bible:
    1 Corinteos 13:
“If I speak all the languages of men and angels, if I do not love it as sounding brass or a tinkling bell.
Although I have the gift of prophecy and discover all the mysteries, “higher knowledge”, but had so much faith that can move mountains, if I do not love I am nothing.
If I give all I possess and even sacrificed my body, but to receive praise and without the love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient and show understanding. Love is not jealous, does not look or inflated.
Meanness or acts do not seek its own interests, not get carried away by anger and forget the bad.
Does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the truth.
Endures despite all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things.
    Love will never happen”.

    • Dear Anabella:
Everything works together to form our lives. You put great insight into your answer. I think the teaching you quoted from the Bible is one of the greatest ones and if people could only really truly let the vibration of love penetrate their mind, body, and soul they would find more happiness and peace. I really appreciate all that you have shared here.
      Many blessings, Cherokee Billie
