In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother’s cub’s, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species, will take on the care of a different species. The only ‘orphans’ that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.

Would they become cubs or pork chops?? Take a look…

Now, please tell me one more time ………

Why can’t the rest of the world get along??

  1. Awww…. that’s a wonderful story. And a very good question at the end.
Love and peace to you all… and prayers for the people of Chile. Another terribly sad display of the powers of nature.

    • Dear Lori:
the earthquake was terrible in Chile, but did not have the huge devastation as the one in Haiti. These events are going to continue to occur and we all need to be prepared with a emergency disaster kit and have a bag packed with essentials at all times. You’d be amazed at how much this could do in an emergency. I have posted prayers on this earthquake both on my website in here on the prayer section.
I think this example of the tiger and the pigs show how much we can get along if we don’t judge.
      Many blessings,
      Cherokee Billie

  2. Dear Cherokee,

The pictures are absolutely adorable. I’m glad they were able to help this tigress with her loss by giving her the orphan piglets. It’s wonderful to see that she took to them the way she did and they need her as much as she needs them.
Yeah. Why can’t the rest of the world get along? Because we also need each other to survive in this world.

    Love,
    Amy

    • dear Amy:
I thought this was a very moving and touching story. It shows that we can get along if we truly try. Even natural enemies can become friends and family with love and trust. Thank you for your comment.
      Many blessings,
      Cherokee Billie

  3. Dear Cherokee Billie,

Oh, what a wonderful story and how wise God is!

Yes, this is s great lesson Mother Nature gives us. By accepting those cubs, the mother tiger followed not only the animal instinct but she also showed how simple the world could be if only we could accept, help, care or stay with one another.

But humans are becoming so demanding as time goes by! Many will only love, care or help unless the other does the same. So sad we haven’t learned this love lesson yet! Is there still time?

Thank you for this post. It makes us reflect upon our own realities and the way we’ve led it.

    Best wishes,
    Karina

    • dear Karina:
unfortunately our world is about what will you give me if I help you? That’s why I have posted before about Native American teachings on animals, the animals have so much to teach us. This wonderful tiger shows that love knows no boundaries and does not make demands other than to love and be loved. If people would listen to animals and follow the ways of the native ancestors the world would turn around.
      Many blessings,
      Cherokee Billie

  4. this is incredible!
    so sweet!
    i’m really touched …
    animals don’t judge …
i think this is one of our biggest problems – judging all the time …

thank you for the prayers for chile, haiti and all the other beautiful prayers of yours!

    love,
    tanjaanna

    • dear Tanjaanna:
one of the great masters said, “judge not, for with what judgment you judge the same shall you be judged.”
I am at a prayer warrior and I keep praying because that is the only thing I know that will change situations.

Cherokee this is one of the sweetest pictures I have seen, and very touching. All the mother tiger wanted to give was love. It’s just to cute how they had the piglets dressed with the tiger stripes, like their adoptive mommy. I would love the world to come together this way stop judging, hating, and thinking one is better. The truth is none of us is better thann any other human being. We are all the lords children.

    • So true Dear Lisa and very well put.
for those of you who have not checked out my latest youtube videos please do as Lisa did a wonderful job on my story about seeing Jimi Hendrix for the first time.

  6. Cherokee Billie,

The think the thing I love most about this story is not only how it shows that diversity can be a positive thing, but how it shows that animals have feelings and emotions are not just mindless beasts that simply exist, but have a purpose.

I love this definition of diversity and wanted to share it:

“The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along
the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.”

    Love to all,
    Lynne

    • dear Lynne:
your comment is very insightful. Thank you for the definition of diversity. Thanks to diversity it’s not a boring world.
      Many blessings,
      Cherokee Billie

Emotional, depressed and withdrawal, the discovery to bring the piglets into the Tiger’s life was so wonderful. The piglets gave her fulfillment, love and purpose so that she could move forward with her life.
Her heart was “open” and the need was there for her to allow acceptance.
If humans would open their hearts to allow “acceptance” to diverse needs…this world would be a much better place.

I was emailed those pictures and story by a friend about six months ago. So very moving! There’s another one, about a wolf and a donkey being in the same cage – I can’t post the pictures here in comments, so here is a link I found:

    http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/photo/2007-05/10/content_869585.htm

    “May 25, 2007
Wolf and donkey live peacefully in same cage

In a shocking story out of Albania, a donkey and wolf are living together in a tiny enclosure in a zoo in Tirana. The donkey was put into the cage almost two weeks ago as dinner for the wolf, but the two have since become close companions. The sight is attracting onlookers, and hopefully the attention will mean this sad situation is soon resolved. The wolf was caught in the wild just four months ago, and there’s no word on whether either animal is receiving food now that the donkey remains alive, and wolf remains unfed. This wolf deserves a life of freedom, and the donkey deserves a restful life in retirement.”

There was another I received a few years ago about a momma cat nursing skunk babies, which I found here:

    http://www.animalliberationfront.com/News/AnimalPhotos/Animals_81-90/Cat_skunks.htm

Interstingly, when looking for those photos to share here, I found a web site that seemingly has hundreds of such photos, not surprisingly, since it appears to be the Animal Liberation web site. Take a look at the list they have:

    http://www.animalliberationfront.com/News/AnimalPhotos/No_Speciesism_Here.htm

I’m glad that tiger is still making her way around the world!

I just LOVE animals! That was adorable!
Thanks! And thanks for the other links too.

      Amy

  11. Absolutely adorable. Those little piglets look just so content with their new Mother 🙂
I have a new little Tiger myself, an 8 week old ginger and white kitten with a cute stripy tail 🙂

Scary to think more Earthquakes will occur :-/ I guess it’ really is a wake up call! Yes, we do need to learn not to judge.

    Love Susanxxxxx

    • dear Susan:
I saw your photograph of your new little tiger and he is so sweet and precious. I just love little cats. Don’t worry about more earthquakes, just be prepared with an emergency kit and always pray for protection. Our faith is going to be greatly tested over the next few years and we must be strong Spiritually.

Thank you, Lilystardust, so much for sharing this. Awesome!
I wonder where these elephants are? Are they Asian elephants and if these elephants all are a part of the same family group? I have never seen this before.
        Thank you again for sharing,
        with love,
        Anna

    • Dear Lisa:
I have seen a documentary about this elephant and I think it’s wonderful. Elephants are such incredibly intelligent animals and are often overlooked for their majesty and beauty. Thank you for sharing this.

If television news were more often like that, we would be better in our minds and our hearts.
Spirituality in life through images and representations as simple as that. It is a natural spirituality, instant and without dogma.

    Best regards

    • dear Sylvia:
wouldn’t it be wonderful if more positive news was put out instead of negative? Media controls so much of what we do and our fears. If the media was positive they would eliminate a great deal of fear.

  14. Thanks for a sweet positve go to bed start a new
Temp job Monday story..passed trainning..needed sweet and light note..also thanks for reminder for Emergency kit..was so prepaed in Oregon and here lousy..have to do it. xxxooo Sarah

Congratulations on your temp job today. You will do a great job!

    • Dear Sarah:
I pray that your week is blessed and filled with positive experiences. I’m glad you paid attention about an emergency kit. Everyone should have a duffel bag in their closet with clothes, shoes, medicines, and basic essential so that you can easily grab in Any emergency. It’s also good to have another emergency kit with flashlights, 1gal. of water for every person for at least three days, canned food, matches, blankets, bandages another miscellaneous medical items. This will keep you going until you can get help. Perhaps one I have time I will write a more detailed description of this. This was something I learned years ago and have kept it up. There’s no guarantees about anything in life and it’s good to be prepared.
      Many blessings,
      Cherokee Billie

    • Yeah, Sarah, on the temp job. I know that you will do wonderfully! Maybe it will lead into something permanent for you, if that is what you want! Regardless, I will keep you in my prayers!
      with love,
      Anna

    • Heeey, congratulations for the job, dear! I know it’ll be nice for you ^_^

  15. Hey Cherokee and everyone here!

How are you all doing! Cherokee i don’t know if you will believe me but before seeing your post i wanted to write about animal so much and to my surprise your post was based on that and the world too.

This is exactly my argument too! why can’t we all get along? why do we always have to judge by religion or whatever! Do you ever wonder why God did not make the human race the same colour or same religion? I think God wanted to see a variety of cultures religions race etc. and how we would all react with a Multi cultural world!

To my Understanding regardless of what u believe in or what ethnic background you come from. There is a oneness in this world! that my freinds is the Intention and the process of life! Good and bad, right and wrong etc… These are all the relating to the process and rules of life. The other Oneness is we are all human beings! female and male to reproduct. we all have red blood in our vains our internal system and external image of our bodys are the same. we were all came in this world alone and will all return to our Creator alone.

To my understanding i believe God wants us to be truthful to ourselves as much as you can. Try and avoid dishonesty as much as possible. As long we are truth ful to our selves and respectful to others how wrong can you be?

All my love and blessings to all.

p.s i will write about Animals later in the day!

    Regards

    Saba 🙂

  16. I say the same: why can’t the world get along? =)

  17. Dear Cherokee Billie, What a beautiful post and the photos are so lovely, they just shine love through them. It says it all really, that the animal world has something to teach us all.I don’t understand why we can’t get on as humans but then we never have. All the way back through history I don’t think there ever has been a time of total peace. In so many cases these wars and times of conflict are caused by one persons either greed or need to dominate. What I feel is so sad is that when it is needed we CAN all work together for good, look at all the people of all different nationalities working together recently in Haiiti, they were there simply to help.Their cultural, religious and personal differences were all put aside. if we can do that when theres a major disaster why can’t we do it every day? With Much Love to all of you and especially you Cherokee,Anne UK

Hello Everyone! This is a great post; my brother sent it to me a while ago. I still find it amazing and so sweet. As I was reading it again and looking at the pictures, I thought of another lesson. In order for the female tiger to accept the piglets, the handlers had to make modifications to the piglets; they had to change the tiger’s perspective. If we make modifications in our perspectives of differences in others, eventually those differences do not matter or exist any longer. When we can reach this point and work together, the possibilites are endless.
Life is all about choices and acting upon those choices.
    Have a great day!
    with love,
    Anna

  19. What a powerful message and what lovely pictures!
It has touched my heart and it makes me think more about acceptance, forgiveness, closeness, affection, love…The ultimate for force in the universe! Why why can’t we be like this?
The best things in life…are free (lot’s of people say) and please allow me to add …and simple. How many things are so simple and we humans just complicate things. It is so simple to be nice, humble, thankful, respectful, loving…. but we just put these invisible barriers that stop us being our true selves and see the simple reality.
God protect us all and guides us to the real path of our lives…which leads to the ultimate force…LOVE.
I love you all my friends.

Cherokee Billie, thank you for your advice about the emergency kit. We should not take things for granted. You never know what may happen.

It goes both ways. Here is a pig nursing tiger cubs! 🙂

    http://www.animalliberationfront.com/News/AnimalPhotos/Animals_221-230/225PigletTigers.htm

“A farm worker holds a piglet and two of the three tiger cubs abandoned by their mother last week at a zoo in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008. A pig at a farm in eastern Ukraine agreed to nurse the three little tigers together with a dozen of its own piglets.”

  22. love this post billie. we should model ourselves after animals. they dont get caught up in jealousy and pride and such. they just live life and try to do it peacefully. people have too much self awareness and constantly try to do what society thinks we should do instead of just being human beings.

  23. This was beautiful CB, thanx for sharing! I too wish that we all could take a page out of the animal’s book and get along before it’s to late.

I truly believe that we are living in the last & evil days and these earthquakes & storms were spoken about in Revalations, God is sending us a message but are we listening???

Congrats on the temp job, Sarah! I’m temping myself and I hope to go perm 1 day. I’m in training now and learning so much about mortgages, it’s really interesting and once I’m done I’ll be able to answer people’s questions and help people w/ their home loans. I know you’ll do great girl!! 😉

    Love & light to all!!

  24. After a hard, tiring day of studies and effort to prepare for a test, I come here and find this beautiful message 🙂

Aaaaaw, how cute!!!!!! A real adorable story! Loved it!

It’s true, our world would be much better if people would stop to be picking on others for such little details, being irritated at nothing, not being tolerant and understanding..

Love, humbleness and tolerance. That’s what we need to create a better world. Pride and intolerance are things that really makes getting along difficult..

I hope dear Cherokee and all dear friends are doing fine!

My prayers and love to the people of Chile and let’s not forget the haitians! They’re still in need..

    Love to all 😉

  25. All these stories are so sweet and amazing! I have heard a few similar ones here SA, and there’s a lot to be learnt from them!

  26. Wonderful sweet stories! Seen a few like them here in SA, and so much can be learnt from them!

  27. Oh sorry for posting twice – when I posted the first message I got an Error page, so I thought it never came out, I then posted another message but both have come out. Thats why they are so similar.

  28. It would be nice if this were true, but alas the story wasn’t written quite this way:

    http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/tigerpig.asp

The pictures are real, and very cute, even if they were staged for human enjoyment. Wild animals should be FREE, not caged for our entertainment.

    • no matter what these animals are able to get along without killing one another. Which is far more than the human race can do. If animals were not kept in the zoo many would be extinct. Most Zoos do their best to treat animals fairly.
      Kind regards,
      Cherokee Billie
